Cazcanes No. 9 Blanco Tequila (85 Proof) – Award-Winning Artisan Spirit

Discover tequila in its purest, most expressive form with Cazcanes No. 9 Blanco Tequila. Bottled at a robust 85 proof ($42.5\%\text{ ABV}$), No. 9 is the flagship blanco from an artisanal distillery that has taken the spirits world by storm. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, Cazcanes combines ancient distilling traditions with pristine, wild-spring hydrology to deliver an unaged tequila of unparalleled depth, complexity, and award-winning caliber.

Whether you are a neat-sip purist or looking to elevate an ultra-premium cocktail, Cazcanes No. 9 delivers an authentic taste of Jalisco’s rich volcanic terroir.

The Tasting Experience

  • Appearance: Crystal clear with brilliant silver clarity and a rich, viscous body that leaves beautiful, slow-moving legs on the glass.

  • Aroma: An immediate explosion of sweet cooked agave, crisp floral notes, green apple, and wet earthy minerals, accented by a bright whisper of fresh citrus peel and black pepper.

  • Palate: Rich, buttery, and beautifully full-bodied. The sweet, herbal complexity of mature blue Weber agave dominates, seamlessly transitioning into layers of sweet lime, grapefruit zest, and a hint of anise.

  • Finish: Exceptionally clean, long, and warming. It leaves a lingering harmony of sweet agave crispness and a crack of white peppercorn spice—a true testament to its over-proof character.

The Artisan Process: Why Cazcanes No. 9 Stands Alone

1. Virgin Spring Hydrology

The secret to the exquisite mouthfeel of Cazcanes is the water source. The distillery utilizes pristine, mineral-rich water sourced directly from a natural, wild-flowing navigable spring nestled deep within the volcanic mountains of Jalisco. This water is never chemically treated, preserving natural minerals that enhance the fermentation process.

2. Hand-Selected Mature Agave

Cazcanes sources 100% blue Weber agave harvested at the absolute peak of maturity from both the Highlands and Lowlands. This intentional blend combines the bright, floral, sweet fruitiness of highland agave with the earthy, mineral-forward, herbaceous structure of lowland agave.

3. Traditional Horno Cooking & Low-Shear Extraction

The agaves are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens (hornos) to perfectly caramelize the starches into fermentable sugars without scorching. The juices are gently extracted to avoid introducing bitter plant tannins, preserving the clean, sweet essence of the agave heart.

4. Small-Batch Copper Still Distillation

Fermented completely naturally with airborne and proprietary yeast strains, the mash is double-distilled in small copper pot stills. The distillers make incredibly tight "cuts," separating out only the heart of the distillation run to ensure that every drop of No. 9 is smooth, clean, and packed with varietal character.
